A week and two days.
That's all I've got left in my little town of Eureka.
My room's all in boxes.
My suitcases are out and prepped.
And I'm feeling good.
My dad got an email from my host dad, saying that I should know that I have nothing to worry about coming to Dormaa-Ahenkro, because they are my host family and they'll take care of me.
I think I really needed to hear that. They sound like a wonderful family.
Turns out, a girl from Germany is staying with my host family as well. She'll be there until October. Her original host family and her weren't working out so my host parents took her in. That'll be great, I think, having someone to kind of show me around that's my age.
And also I've been in contact with a girl from the states who's going to Ghana through AFS as well, she'll be living in another town, very far away from me but it's so great to have someone to talk about it all with.
As my departure date is approaching I'm realizing how incredibly lucky I am to have achieved this. With the help of family, friends, business's, Global Leaders, and some great donations, I'm going to Ghana. I'm going to be an exchange student, a tiny little ambassador for a year.
The amount of support I've gotten from my friends, family, teachers, my boyfriend, and my dancing has really helped me feel like not only will I be living there, as a little ambassador, but like I can embrace this new culture with an open mind and heart.
Thank you.
